Common Questions
Do you have questions about how a payroll service provider gets the job done or why you’d need to hire one? We’ll answer the most common questions below!
1. How often do I need to submit payroll remittances to the CRA?
That depends on your business size and CRA’s assigned frequency. Most small businesses remit monthly, but some may need to remit quarterly or more frequently if payroll is large. We’ll help determine your schedule and make sure everything is filed on time.
What’s included in payroll deductions in Canada?
For each employee, you’ll typically need to deduct and remit:
- Canada Pension Plan (CPP)
- Employment Insurance (EI)
- Income Tax
Your business also contributes to CPP and EI on top of what’s deducted from employee pay. We calculate everything for you to keep it accurate and compliant.
What do I need to do when I hire a new employee?
You’ll need to collect a completed TD1 form, set them up in your payroll system, and ensure proper classifications (employee vs. contractor). We’ll help you onboard employees the right way and keep proper records from day one.
What do you need from me for each payroll period?
We’ll need a few key details, like hours worked for hourly employees, any new hires or terminations, and bonuses or vacation pay if applicable. Once we have that, we handle the rest—from calculations to remittances to pay stub delivery. We’ll send you a quick reminder before each payroll run so you never miss a step.
